Since our humble beginning in a tent in Coomaditchie, Illawarra Aboriginal Medical Service (IAMS) has grown into a cornerstone of Indigenous healthcare in the Illawarra region.

Over these four decades, our journey has been marked by dedication, expansion, and community support. IAMS has evolved thanks to our dedicated staff, loyal clients, and generous funding bodies. From providing a doctor’s visit once a week in 1983, we now offer an array of services, from dental care to counselling, right here in Wollongong.

Our journey is a testament to resilience, community strength, and the pursuit of accessible, impactful healthcare for the Indigenous community. Today, we continue this mission with gratitude and determination.
